It's summer time, and the flowers are happily blooming their heads off. Meanwhile, we are wilting in the hot weather. I hear it was over 100 degrees yesterday. Wooh!
We have been selling our flower and herb bouquets at Sevanada, Piedmont Green Market, Local Roots, and of course in our store. I'm so glad people are loving them. One customer told me yesterday that his bouquet lasted for two weeks! Well, that's local flowers for you, and I thank all my customers for caring about local and sustainable farming. I wanted to give you a heads up on herbs you can expect to find in your bouquet. Some are already there, and some are coming along! Check out the pics above and below.
Thai Basil, not the prettiest, but the smell it provides is delicious. This variety is used in fruit salads. Love it with watermelon and in bouquets, of course.
Genovese Basil- I think the bugs got a few stems!
Also delicious smelling - Sweet Annie
Echinacea - I use mainly the flourescent orange cones. See how they're glowing.
I forgot about yarrow! It's just beautiful--no smell. And feverfew--just adorable.
